Clean Drinking Water - The Key That Unlocks the Door to Good Health

If you're anything like me, you're always on the lookout for that magic key that's going to unlock the door to good health. Well, have you considered something as simple as clean drinking water? Clean drinking water is the key that opens the door to feeling better, losing weight and preventing disease.

At first glance, it seems a little hard to believe. We've become so conditioned to believe all the so-called "experts" who continuously try to convince us that their supplement, diet, work out plan, cleanse, etc., is going to restore our health and vitality.

What we have forgotten (or no one ever told us) is that our bodies are "experts" at maintaining their own youthful vigor. Clean drinking water is the mechanism that drives this self-healing and sustaining process.

When you stop to think about it, it makes sense. The human body is made up of over 70% water. Everything that takes place inside the body takes place courtesy of water, including brain function, metabolism, digestion and detoxification.

Here is a brief description of how water impacts each of these functions:

Brain Function

Medical science now believes that dehydration causes signals from the brain to become warped. Properly hydrating the nervous system with clean drinking water helps the brain to send clear, precise signals to the body. Maintaining clear, unwarped signals from the brain is now thought to prevent neurological illnesses such as anxiety, depression, chronic fatigue and even Alzheimer's disease.

Metabolism and Energy

Our energy level, which is controlled by metabolism, can also be positively impacted by a healthy intake of clean drinking water. The liver uses water to metabolize fat into readily available energy. The liver also uses water to metabolize and get rid of stored fat. When this happens you get more energy and less fat.

You can experience a drop in energy just by allowing yourself to become even a little dehydrated.

Digestion

Good health is dependent on good digestion. Good digestion is dependent on a healthy intake of water. This helps your body readily absorb all the nutritional value from the foods you eat.

When you allow yourself to become even slightly dehydrated, carbs and sugars, which don't carry a lot of nutrition, are absorbed more rapidly. So without plenty of clean drinking water you end up with all the calories and none of the nutrition. Improper digestion and poor nutrient absorption, lead to food cravings.

Detoxification

Long term health is not possible without detoxification. Because of daily exposure to environmental pollution, it's difficult to prevent toxins from getting into our bodies. Detoxification protects us from a dangerous build up of toxins.

The body relies on lots of clean drinking water as its only means of flushing out these harmful substances. When we reduce the buildup of toxins in our body, we reduce the risk of contracting almost all degenerative diseases.

"Clean" Drinking Water

In any discussion of drinking water to promote good health, it is important to recognize that quality is just as important as quantity. Tap water usually contains chlorine and other synthetic chemicals that force the liver and kidneys to act as a filter. This makes it more difficult for the body to carry toxins out of the body.

Many people are inclined to look for the purest drinking water. However, you should know that some of the filtration systems, like reverse osmosis, distillation and bottled water, which are designed to deliver the purest drinking water oftentimes strip water of vital minerals necessary for good taste and good health.

So where does mineralized, clean drinking water come from? It comes from quality home water filtration systems. These systems are specifically designed to deliver the purest drinking water that keeps the "good" and filters out the "bad."

Quality water filtration systems are not hard to find. All it takes is a little time and some comparison shopping. A good place to start is to look for systems that filter out chlorine, bad taste, odors, lead and VOCs (volatile organic chemicals).

Using these guidelines, I was amazed how quickly I was able to sort the good from the mediocre and bad. Once you conduct your own search I believe you'll be amazed as well.

Now that you know that good health is as simple as increasing your intake of clean drinking water, what's stopping you from taking this simple, but important step?
