Don't Cheat on Your Diet

Many people who want to lose weight are often not fully prepared to put in the hard work that is required for weight loss. We are looking for the easiest way to achieve that goal, a way that will not change our lives to any great degree. However this way of thinking is not going to get you where you want to be.

To successfully lose weight you need desire, commitment, motivation and discipline. Without these traits you will just be wasting your time and efforts. Quite a few diets actually encourage you to cheat on your diet. They do this because it allows you not to completely cut out the so called 'nice things' out of your diet. You have to remember that it is these 'nice things' that have put you in the position that you are now in.

You are told that you can carry on eating 'nice food' once or twice a week as a treat. People love to hear this, as they think it must be ok to do this because someone is telling them to do so. Have you ever thought why this practise is so popular? It's because the people that tell you this know that you are going to like to hear this, and you will spend money buying their diet or product.

Let me give you a little example; if you were trying to give up smoking and someone told you that it was ok for you to smoke 10 cigarettes every Wednesday and every Sunday as a bit of a treat, as long as you kept off them for the rest of the week, what would you think? Do you think that this method would help you quit? Would you think that it was a great idea? I'm pretty sure you would think it was a ridiculous way to try to quit smoking.

When it comes to losing weight people embrace this method with open arms, yet the basis is the same as trying to quit smoking. Another point is what would be on your mind most of the time? Would you be thinking about the benefits you are getting from dieting or exercising or would you be thinking about the big piece of cake, bar of chocolate or big bowl of ice cream you are going to eat on Sunday? This would be on your mind constantly; you would always be looking forward to eating unhealthy food instead of focusing on the opposite.

I know people will say that’s its hard to give things up completely, but then you have to think to yourself if you really want to lose weight? If you are not ready to put all your efforts into losing weight, then don’t do it. Its that simple, lets face it there is no law saying its illegal to be overweight, if you don’t want to make sacrifices then don’t put yourself through the process of trying, because you're heart will not be in it, and if that’s the case how can you succeed?

Being allowed to cheat on your diet is becoming a popular phrase just because some so called nutritional expert says it's ok to do so. Let's just pick one word out of that phrase. Let's pick the word 'cheat'. What does the word mean to you? Forget the diets and weight loss for a minute and just think of the word cheat. Other words to describe cheat are trick, deceive, swindle, fraud, hoax, con and so on. You have to ask yourself how you can be completely focused on your goal with the word cheat in your diet.

If you are hell bent on losing weight then the time has to come where you say 'no more, I have had enough and I am going to do whatever it takes to reach my goal. I know it probably won't be easy but if I'm going to do it, then I will do it properly. When the going gets tough, then so will I. I know that excuses are for failure, I'm going to use reasons on why I will lose weight and not excuses for why I cant'.

In conclusion I am just going to confirm what you probably already are aware of.  If you know that you are prepared to put in the work, make whatever sacrifices that are required, losing weight is virtually guaranteed. Commit yourself to that goal and don’t cheat on your diet.
