Fat comes in mainly 3 categories:

 

Saturated Fats

This is the worst type of fat that you can eat. Unfortunately we tend too consume far too many of these types of fat and they are readily available in fast foods, processed foods, and pre-packaged foods.

 

 

Eating too many saturated fats over a period of time will be enough to guarantee weight problems and numerous health problems . By following a diet high in saturated fats you are heading down a road that you really want to avoid,becuse weight loss will be a pointless exercise.

 

 

These types of fats MUST be kept to a minimum. They will result in high blood pressure and will begin to clog up your arteries; this will lead various health problems including heart disease and diabetes.

 

 

Saturated fats are found in:

 

Red meat

Full milk

Cakes

Sweets

Biscuits

Cheese

Butter

Margarine

Fried foods

Crisps

Certain cooking oils

 

 

Polyunsaturated Fats

Polyunsaturated fats are considered to be good fats. However these types of fats are often neglected in our diets. Many of these types of fat are found in fish, and are known as omega 3 fats.

 

 

It is important that you consume omega 3 fats in your diet, as they are vital to your health. Omega 3 fats have many benefits which include lowering cholesterol levels, improving skin problems, and often easing joint problems.

 

 

There are some people who do not like eating fish. If you are one of those people, then you must try to take it in supplement form, such as fish oils or capsules.

 

 

Omega 3 fats can be found in:

Sardines

Herrings

Trout

Salmon

Mackerel

Tuna

Grape seed  oil

Sunflower oil

 

 

Monounsaturated Fats

These types of fat are normally found in a Mediterranean diet and until recently it was thought that they had no negative or positive benefits on your health. New studies have shown now that there are certain health benefits to be had. These types of fats can be found in:

 

Olive oil

Nuts

Olives

Avocados

 

Don't fall into the trap of fats paranoia, there is bad fat but there is also good Fat
