| Motivate Yourself to Lose Weight |
|
You will be aware of the fact that there are many diets and weight loss programs which do not deliver the results that they promise. The flip side of the coin is that there are many weightless methods which are healthy, use good practices, and have the potential to help people lose weight. The problem is that only a small minority of people are losing weight, with the vast majority failing to do so, why is this?
The number one reason that separates the failures from the successes is the inability to follow a weight loss program for any length of time. Any weight loss plan, product, or diet is useless unless it is used for a long enough period for the benefits to appear. The truth is that many people don’t spend enough time on a weight loss program, which results in no or minimal results. The bottom line is that you must motivate yourself to lose weight.
Motivation is easy for a few days or even a few weeks, but after that motivation becomes weak and tends to vanish, resulting in giving up the initial goal. Motivation like everything else is capable of becoming better and stronger the more you practise it. The question is how can one practise motivation?
When you feel your motivation starting to slip don’t feel guilty or bad about it. Instead try to focus on the reasons that you initially had when you first started. Focus not only on the reasons but also on the results you were aiming for. Some reasons could include:
Looking better, feeling better, becoming healthier, becoming fitter, fitting into certain clothes, looking and feeling more attractive, and any other reasons that you initially had.
Remember that whatever you think about on a regular basis becomes stronger and stronger. So if you start having thoughts like, its too hard, I can't be bothered, its tiring or any other negative thoughts, then these thoughts will become stronger. This will lead you to give up what you are doing. When you feel these thoughts entering your mind, push them away and tell yourself that you are not going to think like that.
Tell yourself that you are going to think about all the good and positive thoughts that are associated with the weight loss plan. Do not just stop at thinking positive thoughts, visualize these thoughts. Picture yourself in your mind. See yourself fitter and slimmer, see yourself dressed the way that you would love to dress, see yourself being given compliments by other people.
Spending just 10 minutes a day doing this exercise will reap great rewards. Find a quiet spot somewhere you won't be disturbed. Close your eyes and picture the end result of your goals. Sense how you will feel and how you will look. See yourself eating healthy and exercising. Do this regularly and you will stay motivated and focused on what you want.
You will still get days when the negative thoughts will try to creep into your mind, this is natural but just be aware that they are there, and accept that they are there, but don’t fight them. Just smile and tell yourself that you know what they are trying to do, but they cannot succeed, because you have a much bigger agenda, far beyond what any small negative thought can stop.
The choice is yours now. You can let the negative thoughts take over and lead you to another failed attempt at losing weight or you can use the methods written here and succeed. You have the choice as to whether you want to motivate yourself to lose weight or not. The outcome rests on your decision.
